There are different medicine packages available. I am going to talk about the sofosbuvir combinations that are available through this site.
Sofosbuvir will not work on its own. It must be taken with another compound: daclatasvir or velpatasvir for example.
There are different recommendations as to which medicine to take coming from different countries and often are born out of economic factors and local politics.
Beyond the “local” information, generally both combination of sofosbuvir with daclatasvir or velpatasvir are pangenotypic drugs which means they have a positive direct effect on all genotypes (1 to 6) of the hepatitis C virus.
You may read out there some recommendations of taking daclatasvir for genotypes 2 and 3 and velpatasvir for 1,4,5 and 6. In fact depending on where you look there is a slight variations of recommendations and some times it is an economic reason like daclatasvir no longer being sold in United States because the pharmaceutical company stop producing on the ground of a market competition factor.
I have personally taken taken the Indian generic combination of sofosbuvir with daclatasvir for my genotype 3a. I cleared the virus in 12 weeks even though the recommendation was to take it for 24 weeks.
This for you to personally decide which to take. You can read this page that shows the percentage of success for each medicine according to different genotypes.
Sofosbuvir taken in combination with Daclatasvir is the most taken medicine out of all the Hepatitis C ones.
